The Weekly Vibe - #10

Updated: Jul 29, 2020

Welcome our very first blog, “The Weekly Vibe”! We’re excited to share not only a summary of our podcasts but also advice to enhance your week. We give you a glimpse of what we've learned this week, what books we're reading, and some motivation to get after your goals.

James Altucher - Visions of the Future - Episode #10

  • Remote work and increased connectivity amongst groups will be extremely important

  • Everything will be accelerated. Growing industries will grow faster and dying industries will die even faster.

  • A focus on local issues and the specific needs of the community.

  • A focus on automation especially in industries that are dominated by personal interactions. For example drone delivery of groceries or automated medical practices.

  • Safety and hygienic business practices will be crucial

  • Importance of content creation including podcasts, blogs, or personal brands.

  • Artificial Intelligence will create more jobs than it destroys. Throughout history, innovation has always forced our society and economy to evolve and shape new jobs.

  • Quality of life is more important than income inequality. Our society needs to focus on constant innovation and fueling our economy in order to provide a basic quality of life for all.

What we Learned this Week:

Don't be a slave to technology, instead use it to produce positive content into the world. Simply scrolling through social media can increase levels of Cortisol and Dopamine which can lead to random stressful emotions.

Always be sharing ideas, exchanging ideas with people is what leads to innovation and creativity. The brain has an idea muscle and unless you constantly exercise it by thinking of new ideas, it atrophies. Be the person that everyone comes to for new ideas or suggestions.

Check out what’s happening in your local community. Now more than ever it's important to stay informed with local news and care for the needs of those close to you.

Try it this Week

  • Try setting a daily limit for social media and cancel notifications

  • Try writing down 10 ideas a day on any topic to boost your idea muscle

  • Try following some local pages and reach out to friends who might need help

What we're Reading

Tools of Titans” by Tim Ferris

This book is a compilation of all the best advice from the guests of the Tim Ferris show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. They share morning routines, exercise routines, diets, business insights, meditation techniques, and everything in between. This has been a great book for us to expand our horizons and try out some new things in our life! From the book, we have already adapted meditation, cold water therapy, journaling, and other techniques.

Quote of the Week

"It's the sharing of ideas that creates innovation."
